Discover the Zemco Cruise Control for Suzuki Motorcycles SV-7GX, DL800 V-Strom and GSX8-models
Long motorway journeys, daily commuting and touring holidays are all part of the pleasure of riding a motorcycle. But holding the throttle in exactly the same position for mile after mile can become tiring — especially on long, straight roads.
That is where cruise control makes a real difference.
Zemco has developed a new generation of motorcycle cruise control systems for selected Suzuki models, bringing additional comfort and convenience to riders who spend time on longer journeys.
With cruise control available, your right hand no longer needs to continuously maintain the throttle position. Instead, you can select your desired cruising speed and let the system maintain it.
The result? More relaxed riding, less effort and more enjoyment of every kilometre.
What is the Zemco Suzuki motorcycle cruise control?
The Zemco cruise control is an electronic system designed to maintain a selected motorcycle speed without the rider having to continuously operate the throttle.
Operation is deliberately straightforward. The system is switched on using the handlebar controls and placed in standby. A short press of the SET/- button activates cruise control at the current speed.
Once active, the speed can be adjusted directly from the handlebar:
- A short press of SET/- reduces the set speed by approximately 2 km/h.
- Holding SET/- reduces the set speed by approximately 10 km/h.
- A short press of RES/+ increases the set speed by approximately 2 km/h.
- Holding RES/+ increases the set speed by approximately 10 km/h.
The system operates at approximately 40 to 150 km/h, making it particularly useful for longer roads and motorway journeys.
If you brake, the cruise control is deactivated. The previous set speed can then be recalled using the resume function when conditions are suitable.
The system can also be temporarily overridden by manually opening the throttle. Once the throttle is released, the cruise control can return the motorcycle to the previously selected cruising speed.
Three important benefits of motorcycle cruise control
1. More comfort on long journeys
The biggest benefit is simple: less effort for the rider.
On a long motorway journey, maintaining a constant throttle position can place continuous load on the right hand, wrist, forearm and shoulder. Cruise control takes over the task of maintaining the selected speed.
That can make a noticeable difference during touring, commuting and long-distance travel.
Instead of constantly thinking about maintaining your speed, you can concentrate more naturally on the road, traffic and your surroundings.
2. A more consistent cruising speed
Traffic conditions permitting, maintaining a steady speed can make your ride smoother and more predictable.
Cruise control avoids the small, continuous variations in throttle position that can occur when manually maintaining speed. This can also help support a more consistent riding style, which may contribute to efficient fuel use.
Actual fuel consumption will, of course, depend on many factors including speed, wind, traffic, riding style, load and road conditions.
3. Less fatigue and better speed awareness
Long-distance riding is physically and mentally demanding.
By reducing the need to continuously hold a precise throttle position, cruise control can help reduce rider workload. This can be especially valuable during long motorway sections where speed limits are relatively constant.
It is important to remember that cruise control is a rider assistance system, not an autonomous riding system. The rider remains fully responsible for controlling the motorcycle, adapting speed to traffic and road conditions, and complying with applicable speed limits.
The Zemco system does not brake the motorcycle. When braking or clutching, the cruise control is deactivated, allowing the rider to remain in control.
Designed around the Suzuki riding experience
Suzuki’s 800cc platform has developed into a broad family of motorcycles, ranging from the sporty GSX-8R and GSX-8S to the touring-oriented DL800 V-Strom models.
For riders who use their Suzuki for commuting, touring or longer road trips, cruise control adds another practical layer of comfort to the motorcycle.
The Suzuki accessory is operated through dedicated handlebar controls, with an indicator light showing the system status.
This means the essential functions are available without having to navigate menus while riding.

A cruise control that is made for motorcyclists
Motorcycle cruise control is not simply about convenience. It is about making the motorcycle better suited to the way many riders actually use it.
A Suzuki that is used for commuting may spend considerable time on motorways and major roads. A V-Strom may cover hundreds of kilometres during a touring day. And even a sporty GSX-8R can benefit from having a more relaxed way of covering the distance between two favourite roads.
The Zemco system has been developed specifically with motorcycle use in mind, with simple handlebar operation and clearly defined safety behaviour.
The system automatically pauses when the brakes are applied, when the clutch is operated or when significant changes in speed occur.
And, importantly, Zemco’s philosophy is clear: cruise control is there to support the rider and provide comfort — not to replace the rider’s attention and control.
