The Zemco speed limiter offers a fixed and a variable speed limiter. The fixed speed limit will be programmed into the device and will permantaly limit the maximum vehicle speed. There are two types of speed limiters to distinguish: the variable- and the fixed limiter. The variable speed limiter offers the driver to set one or more speed limits. Should an emergency arise then the speed limit can be overriden quickly by kicking-down the accelerator pedal. By tipping a button on the command module the speed limitation resumes as quickly as it went 

The fixed speed limiter on the other hand cannot be maintained or switched off by the driver. The maximum vehicle speed will be determined before or at the point of installion of the speed limiter device. Fixed limiters are often used in commercial vehicle fleets to improve road safety and to reduce maintenance and fuel costs.
